HQ
HQ is an environment for testing computer programs that learn. The tests
are conducted using a two-player board game. Regular matches and tournaments
are held to allow contestant programs to learn from each other and be
properly ranked. HQ and all
contributed contestant programs are covered under the
GPL .
HQ is written as a
Java 1.1
applet. It can be run from a variety of web browsers;
Netscape 4.0.6 or later,
Internet Explorer 4.0 or
later, or
HotJava 1.1.5 or later.
All contestants are also written in Java. The browser security
manager prevents any of the contributed software from
corrupting the client machine. An interface is provided to
allow a user to be a contestant and play a game against any of the
contestant programs, or to observe two contestant programs playing the game.
The board game that is used is a two-player, deterministic, incomplete
information game.
